Midnight strikes… and just like that, it is the beginning of a new year. A new chapter. A New Year's resolution. A new YOU. I don't know about you, but for me, every new year comes with a list of New Year's resolutions that I always promise to keep this year, but I always give up, give in, or forget shortly after the year starts. Instead of focusing on everything I don't like about myself or everything I want and need to change, which tends to keep me in a pessimistic loophole- I will try and do something different this year. I'd like to try and say 2025- new year, new mindset- and I have an idea of how I'd like to achieve this... with the power of YET. I'd like to encourage everyone to take this journey of a "Yet" mindset with me.
If I have goals to improve my health and fitness journey, I will say that I am not satisfied with my health and physical appearance… YET.
I am not satisfied with my financial situation… YET.
I am not educated on that matter enough… YET.
I do not have my dream house… YET.
My relationship status is not what I would have hoped for… YET.
I have not met my spiritual goals…YET
I haven't been able to give up [insert item]… YET
I haven't been able to travel to [destination]… YET.
It's easy for me to get stuck in my negative thoughts—all the things I don't have, all the things I get down and depressed about. We scroll social media, we compare ourselves to others. We forget to have gratitude, and be positive and we are our own worst critics sometimes. Change is hard, but staying the same and sitting in my sulking is even harder. So why not motivate myself? I can do it—one day at a time… and so can you. Whatever it is you want—you can go get it. It's yours. Just because you don't have that thing you want doesnt mean you wont get it, you just don't have it… yet.
My hope for you is that this is the year for YOU.
